Nic was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa. He studied theatre at Drake University and has since performed, written and directed for stages across the U.S as well as in the U.K and Europe. After spending 6 years in Chicago performing in stage shows like Shear Madness and Party as well as at The Second City, Nic moved to Los Angeles and began his film and television career.
He spent a few years in the world of Daytime Drama as well as working in commercials, theatre and film. From 2006 to 2014 Nic directed and produced a world tour of Terrence McNally's stage play "Corpus Christi".
He also produced and directed a documentary titled "Corpus Christi: Playing With Redemption" which follows the production of the play and it's effect on the cast and audiences worldwide. Nic runs the performing arts program at his kids school, heads up an international diabetes prevention program with his husband, and in early 2019 decided to return to acting.
He happily lives in picturesque Altadena tucked in the mountains above Pasadena with his hubby, three kids and three dogs. There have been persistent threats of adding chickens or goats but nothing yet.
