David Leisure was born on November 16, 1950 in San Diego, California, United States, is Actor. During his student-actor days at San Diego State University, Leisure roomed with Robert Hays. Graduating with a degree in fine arts, he pursued acting jobs for 6 years before landing a bit part in "Airplane!", which ironically starred his former roomie. Acting prospects continued to be dim, and Leisure was living out of his VW bus. Taking a girlfriend's advice, he joined a workshop on tv commercial acting, and soon started his spokesman career pitching for Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages and appearing as superliar "Joe Isuzu" in a series of outrageous Isuzu commercials.

Biography/Timeline

1980

Among his smaller roles, Leisure appeared as the "First Krishna" in the 1980 film Airplane!. He voiced The Castle in Fox's 1992 Halloween special Count DeClues' Mystery Castle. In the 1993 edition of Circus of the Stars, the "Mystery Clown" who performed tricks in between acts near the end of the show removed his makeup to reveal himself as David Leisure. In 1999, he made a brief but memorable appearance in 10 Things I Hate About You as a high school soccer coach and detention monitor. More recently, falling back on his "Joe Isuzu" shtick, Leisure has been acting as a fictional and disreputable insurance Lawyer in a series of commercials for various American personal-injury law firms. In different markets, different firms have licensed the footage and add in their own spokespeople and names.

2009

For much of the first quarter of 2009, Leisure appeared as Roger Wilkes on the CBS daytime drama The Young and the Restless. As of July 2010, he is in a recurring role as Salem District Attorney Charles Woods on Days of Our Lives.
