After finishing high school Stjepan studied law at University of Zagreb. In 2003, however, his passion for the arts led him to quit law and pursue a career as an actor. He graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
In 2009 with the director Nevio Marasovic he co-wrote and starred in the pilot for what was to become the TV series Instruktor (2010). Although he played a number of lead roles at the National Theaters all over Croatia, since 2010 his career is based only on filming.
