The role that led him to 4 award nominees as "best actor" from Italy to the USA also brought him his 1st "Best Actor" award at the "NYC Indie Awards" in the USA 2017.He started late as an actor he was 43 years old when he got his first supporting role for "Reeperbahn" in 2014.

It all began in the late 90's when Marc Engel started to make amateur short movies as a hobby, which he directed and acted in it for smaller amateur film festivals and competitions. As an autodidact he taught himself how to write scripts make movies and act in them and a hobby turned into a passion.

He won a few prices for some of his short films as well. He quit making short movies in 2007 and then he focused on writing. Engel had day and night jobs in video stores, as a bouncer, as a call center agent, salesman, store manager, as a forklift driver and security jobs and in his free time he wrote a lot.

He published some poems under different names and wrote a book for children. He wrote the little Fairytale as a present to his then unborn daughter and he dedicated it to her. The Book was published in 2011.

Later on he started to write scripts, some of them were close to be produced. In 2013 when he was shooting the trailer for his then planed first feature film "Blue Sparrow" which he wanted to direct also, he lost his day job in the while shooting.

Then he started to work as an extra and bit part player for movies to get extra money so he could end the filming for the trailer.Engel didn't wanted to act anymore but the jobs became bigger and bigger he then put his directing debut on hold.

He worked as an extra in German Movies like Fatih Akins "The Cut", who is one of Engels directing role models. While he was working as an extra he pretty much observed Akins directing style from a close distance.

Engel also had extra parts in "Stereo" with Moritz Bleibtreu and Jürgen Vogel and the Ulrich Tukur "Tatort - Butterfly". He was originally cast and handpicked by director Jalmari Helander ( "Rare Exports") for a little supporting role in "Big Game" with Samuel L.

Jackson and Ray Stevenson. The gig didn't worked out for him in the end because one of the producers recast 4 roles on his own, one week before shooting and Marcs part was one of them. Even though Marc Engel did a hard workout for 5 Weeks to play a believable Soldier.

In 2014 Marc worked with Timo Rose on the German independent drama "Reeperbahn" which was his debut in a supporting role. He portrayed the twisted character of the pimp "Uffuk Korkmaz" for which Marc Engel lost over 16 pounds and while shooting he lived in a motel room in the heart of the Reeperbahn to prepare himself more for the character.

He ate only one little meal a day while shooting so that he could get faster access to the rage side, when needed. Marc got a lot of good reviews for his portray of the choleric psychopath Uffuk. Besides his supporting role he also worked as an assistant director and on second unit for the outdoor night shots for the Film "Reeperbahn".

In "Deathwish:Zero" Engel portrayed the main villain in the independent action movie and he also worked as one the stunt coordinators. The movie was shot in 2015 and he modeled his accent and voice as a mix of Jean Claudes van Damme and Joe Pesci voices and accents.

Marc broke his foot and ankle a multiple times after a jump when wrong but he didn't went to a hospital until he finish shooting his last scenes that day. The ankle was smashed that bad he needed a surgery and the doctors put two metal plates onto his ankle.

The possibility was there that he could never walk normal again but Engel trained his foot back to a regular capacity. This took him over 6 month even though he got remaining arthrossis from that accident.

He shot the first scenes for the preup teaser trailer for "Scars of Xavier" in a plaster and under a lot of pain 5 days after the surgery. He also started to work out hard after that and preparing for a possible early shoot of SOX over 6 weeks in a plaster and under a lot of pain.

Marc wasnt able to but his foot down otherwise the inflammation would not be endurable, so this made working out harder for him..In 2016 Marc got his first Leading Role in the independent serial killer drama "Scars of Xavier" for which he slimmed down to 116 pounds through diet and training.

He was a good 33 pounds under his normal weight and he also taught himself to be left handed even though he is right handed. Marc also wrote a "killers diary" and lived in the flat of Xavier for a while to isolated himself from the outside world to prepare himself more for the character.

While shooting Engel hurt himself 23 times while performing all his stunts himself and did every scene as authentic as possible. Every punch to walls and mirrors were real after the movie was wrapped he went home with 23 injuries from bruises, cuts over burns.

From day one shooting after a chest hit by a co star went wrong, he couldn't barley breathe the whole first shooting block. He was in constant chest pain, that's why his speaking voice sounds different in the movie he needed to talk more through the throat because he wasn't able to take deep breath, otherwise it would hurt him more taking deep breathes.

After the wrap of the third shooting block, Engel went home and had a breakdown, he was that exhausted and landed in the emergency room and remained in hospital for a while. "Scars of Xavier" directed and written by Kai E.

Bogatzki was also the first time Marc Engel produced a film and he also wrote some parts of the story and the script. The Serial Killer Movie was nominated over a 20 times and won 16 awards worldwide and as mentioned before Engels first "Best actor award" with an overall 4 nominees.

Engel did a brief cameo in the 2017 produced music video "Disruption" from the Metal band Backfired Hate. The Song was written for the movie "Scars of Xavier".2018 Engel landed his second leading role in the movie "Könige" for which he gained a lot of weight and also wrote parts of the script.

The movie with some household names from Germany is in post production right now.
