Derek Siow (born February 25 1980) is a film and television actor and has appeared in Zero Dark Thirty, War Machine and The Rezort. He was also part of the main cast in the television animation program Skinner Boys: Guardians of the Lost Secrets.
Derek resides in London, England with his wife and two children. His father, Gerald, came from a large family of thirteen children and went to high school in Australia, later becoming an accountant. His mother, Jean, was the eldest of five and studied midwifery in London, later moving to Australia where she worked as a nurse.
With a large extended family, Derek also has relatives in Asia, USA and Europe and travelled extensively in his youth.His interest in acting started at an early age with school plays when he won the lead role of Superman in Man Of Steel and using his father's camcorder, he also made short films with his classmates and screened them at school.
He acted in a Chinese theatre group for two years before moving to London to pursue acting. Derek made his feature film debut as an interrogator in Zero Dark Thirty working with Kathryn Bigelow. He also appeared in the American NBC television show American Odyssey as Salter, an American special forces soldier and as US Marine Tony Song in War Machine on Netflix.
He has voiced many characters for film, television and video games, including Steve Gigs, a tech genius, in the Paramount Pictures animation feature film Capture The Flag about the US space race, Edward Skinner as part of the main cast in the Kids WB (Warner Bros) television animation program Skinner Boys: Guardians of the Lost Secrets which ran for two seasons and Ashton Anchors in the Star Ocean: Anamnesis video game.
Next to acting, Derek has had a passion for recording music and songwriting and was in a band for five years. He learned many languages in school which aided in his range of accents and characters.
