S. Coast Guard. He served 8 years on active duty as an aircraft electrician and search and rescue helicopter crewman. During his Coast Guard service, he took part in a number of search and rescue missions along the Atlantic coast and in the Great Lakes.
He also deployed to Antarctica for two duty tours, both nearly 6 months in length.After his Honorable Discharge from the Coast Guard in 1980, David began a career as a police officer. He served with the Savannah, GA Police Department from 1981 until he retired in November of 2001 at the rank of Captain.
Upon retirement from the Savannah Police Department, David was promoted to the rank of Major-Retired, in recognition of his years of service. He then served as the Chief of Police in Tiffin, OH from November of 2001 until January of 2012.
David became the Chief of Police in Waterville, OH in January of 2012; he retired from the position in August of 2019.David had his first exposure to acting in 1987, when he appeared as an extra in an episode of the HBO series, Vietnam War Story.
He worked as an extra again in 1994, this time in the movie, Forrest Gump. But his scene in that movie did not appear in the final version of the film.David has done frequent live, on-camera interviews for TV news stories related to his law enforcement duties.

Dave frequently travels to New York for movie and TV auditions. In 2015, he was cast as Det. Sam Burke in a made for a cable TV series based on the Spawn comic books. However, the series never went into production.
