Tung Chee Chen was born on 1941 in Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Hong Kong. Brothers Tung Chee Chen and Tung Chee Hwa control nearly 70% of shipping giant Orient Overseas. Chee Chen remains chairman and CEO after elder brother Chee Hwa, also a billionaire, stepped down in 1997 to serve as Hong Kong's first chief executive. Founded by their father nearly 70 years ago, the company today counts more than 270 offices in 60 countries.

Tung served as chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners' Association from 1993 until 1995. He was chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce from 1999 to 2001. Since 1997, Tung is the chairman and CEO of Orient Overseas (International) Limited, one of the largest shipping companies in the world.


He was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the University of Liverpool in 2009.
