Her brother Hans was also put to death for his dissemination of anti-Nazi pamphlets, and her boyfriend, Fritz Hartnagel, ultimately married her sister Elisabeth.
She and fellow Activist Johanna Kirchner were both part of the Nazi resistance movement.
