Sofia Sisniega is a graduate of The Stella Adler Studio's 3 year Theater Conservatory in New York.Inspired by her father Marcel Sisniega, independent film director, writer and international chess grand master, Sofia has acted in over 17 full length films, 16 theater plays and 10 television series.Sofia has both American and Mexican citizenships. Since she was raised between Mexico and the US English and Spanish are both her native languages.She's from Spanish, French, Italian, Irish, Russian, Icelandic, Mexican, Arab and American-Indian descent.FILM: She starred in her first movie at age 16 "Mujeres en el Acto", followed by "Arresto Domiciliario", both directed by Gabriel Retes. After graduating, she continued her work in Mexico with "Bacalar" directed by Patricia Arriaga and produced by Walt Disney Studios. She participated in "Get the Gringo" with Mel Gibson, "El Gringo" filmed in Bulgaria, starring Christian Slater, "Treading Water" with Carrie Ann Moss and Zoe Kravitz, "Sundown" with Teri Hatcher, "La Vida Inmoral de la Pareja Ideal" by Manolo Caro, "Qué Culpa Tiene el Niño" by Gustavo Loza, among others. She also starred in "Ladronas de Almas" by Juan Antonio de la Riva and in the highly acclaimed Sci-Fi short film "Sundays" by Dutch director Mischa Rozema. Sofia recently finished shooting two movies in which she also stars: "Hermanos Marquez Castillo" a comedy set in the 1940s directed by Fer Rovzar/Mark Alazraki and "Compulsion" directed by Batan Silva, a psychological thriller where she plays an American Neuroscientist.TV: Regarding TV, she was a series regular in "Los Minondo" a historic TV series for Canal Once and played the recurring role of Luna in HBO's "Sr. Avila". Sofia had the lead role in Bienvenida Realidad produced by Sony International Television and portrayed "Serena" in the Spanish version of "Gossip Girl" produced by Warner Brothers International Television. In "Club de Cuervos" seasons 1, 2, 3 (Netflix's first original series in Spanish), Sofia plays Paty Villa. Within the past year she has starred in the series "Entre Correr y Vivir" and "Sincronía". She also did a special recurring role in "Las 13 Esposas de Wilson". Sofia recently finished the first season of "Aquí en la Tierra" a FOX series produced by Gael Garcia in which he acts and directs. In this ensamble she plays Julia, one of the main characters. The series is also directed by Everardo Gout, Adrian Grunberg, Mariana Chenillo and Alonso Ruiz Palacios. Sofia also just completed the first season of "La Casa de las Flores" a Netflix Original series created and directed by Manolo Caro.THEATER: Theater has always been a part of Sofia's life. In New York and in Mexico she has performed in plays by Shakespeare, Eugene O'Neill, Anton Chekhov, García Lorca, Strindberg, Tennessee Williams, Sophocles, Oscar Wilde, Harold Pinter and others. In March 2017, she finished a long run of the classical play in verse "Don Juan" by Zorrilla at the Helénico, one of the most important and respected theaters in Mexico. This successful production was inspired by Fellini's movies and she had the lead role of Doña Ines. During the first semester of 2017, Sofia also played Viola in Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" ("Noche de Reyes") at the famous Foro Shakespeare in Mexico City, wining awards for the best production in Mexico.

She began acting professionally at 15 and appeared in two films, Mujeres en el Acto and Arresto Domiciliario in 2006 and 2008 both by the acclaimed Director, Gabriel Retes. The series had one season with 120 episodes. It aired weeknights in Mexico and in the United States on MTV Tr3s.


Sisniega's late father was Marcel Sisniega Campbell, a Grandmaster chess player, Writer, Screenwriter and independent film Director. He died on January 19, 2013 from a stroke. Her paternal uncle, Ivar Sisniega, is a modern Pentathlete and Politician who competed in the Summer Olympic Games in the 1980s.


Sisniega is an animal-rights Activist and vegetarian. In her spare time, she rescues animals and assists with putting them up for adoption. She currently lives between Mexico City and Los Angeles. She speaks Spanish and English In August 2014, she founded, "Milk Bar", a bakery featuring organic, vegan and gluten-free cookies and desserts, located in Mexico City. In March 2015, she partnered with actresses, Zuria Vega and Marimar Vega, to expand the bakery, changing its name to "Milkella by Milk Bar".
