Her films were broadcast on Shot TV, Deutsche Welle, CBC, CityTV, Bravo!Canada, and Ragusani nel Mondo. Sibel is a TIFF Talent Lab, and WIDC Director Alumnae (Women in Director's Chair). Her short film Hungarian Salami (2007) was nominated for Best Comedy at the 60th Yorkton Golden Sheaf Awards, and was considered for Canada's Top Ten Shorts by the TIFF Group. Her two times award-winning and critically acclaimed film, In the Penal Colony (2006), was a part of a trilogy in Teatro Municipal da Guarda together with Philip Glass's opera based on Franz Kafka's short story, and was selected to a special presentation, Celluloid Pearls in Kolkata International Film Festival, with Orson Welles' Kafka film "The Trial".
Twice, Sibel received the William F. White Proficiency in Film Prize, the best Jazz Film Award, Best World Music Award and Best Abstract Film Award with her other short films. Having a background in music, Sibel composed on her earlier films.
