Rui Pedro Sousa was born on August 24, 1986 in Aveiro, Portugal, to Fátima Sousa and Fernando Sousa (Construction Worker). After Highschool, he worked as a waiter at his Uncles Restaurant in his hometown.
Soughing a career as a Film Director he left home at the age of 18 to move to the city of Oporto in Portugal to study cinema at the University Escola Superior Artística do Porto.After completing his second year he left his studies to join the Production Company Lightbox Filmes where he worked as a Motion Designer and VFX Artist for 8 years.
During this period, and always with the mindset of becoming a Director, he gather his friends to Produce his first short film Tsintty (2013) during the weekends in 2012. Still at the company, he spend the years of 2014 and 2015 making his next short film Limbo: A Small Measure of Peace (2016).
Both this movies went to several film festivals around the world winning some awards including the "Rising Star Award" for Rui Pedro Sousa at the Canada International Film Festival.In 2016 he leaves Lightbox Filmes to move to London, in pursuit of his dream.
During this period he met Ewa Habdas (Producer) and Vittorio Sala (Director of Photography), now his longtime partners in every movie he makes, and started developing a project composed of four short films.
From February 2017 until June 2018 they developed this projects with the help of Station Productions. The first of the four films completed was the Comedy Short-Film George (2017). The other three (Zombie, Awoken and Whispers) planed as a trilogy of shorts where combined into just one movie Insanium (2018).
On July 2018, Rui Pedro Sousa started the Developing of his first feature film as a Director.
