The Geordie accent pronunciation for Nicola was very different from the Dutch and Nicola soon became Nikki as her mother said it no longer sounded exotic.Nikki was 4 when her parents separated and she stayed with her mother and new partner, who became a fun step father.

She also inherited a step brother who she got on great with. Throughout Nikki's childhood she moved around, to country side, farm house, cities but was always drawn back to her little home town of Jarrow.

Nikki always had a passion for film and drama and enjoyed performing in local youth theatres. Her first teacher was Michael McNally, who had links to TV productions and landed some of Nikki's peer's roles in Byker Grove and The Bill.

Nikki loved the drama, and tried to dance and sing. The dancing needed lots of work and the singing was unfortunate for people around her!In 2000 Nikki married her teenage sweetheart Paul who was a popular local DJ.

Despite Nikki's burning ambition to become an actress her parents and peers convinced her to pursue a realistic career and in 2001 she joined the Police. Spending a huge chunk of her service working in Safeguarding, helping children and vulnerable adults.
