Michael moved to Los Angeles from Chicago after graduating from Southern Illinois University's Cinema Department in film production. After some independent feature and AFI internships, he landed a PA job on Henry Winkler's first directorial assignment for CBS Schoolbreak Special (1984) episode "All the Kids Do It.
" This led to work on TV movies of the week and low budget features as production assistant, grip, camera assistant, AD, electrician, assistant editor, and gaffer.Michael's focus turned to post production and he began editing off-line for commercials, TV shows and music videos with Glenn Frey, Charlie Sexton, and Dwight Yoakam.
In 1987 he was given the opportunity to create and head the post production department for AIP Studios (Action International Pictures). That position lead to the managing of JDH Sound, a post production sound and editing facility in West Los Angeles which attracted such films as Driving Miss Daisy (1989), Drugstore Cowboy (1989), Wild Orchid (1989), and Pump Up the Volume (1990).
The next decade was spent as post production supervisor on many independent and studio features including a close relationship with Orion Pictures in the early '90's. Known for his talent at solving the most challenging problems in post production, he became known as a "go to" guy in feature post production.
This reputation brought studio executives, insurance companies and completion bond companies to secure his services. Joining International Film Guarantors in 1999 until 2014 when the controlling corporation that owned IFG closed IFG and backed their competition, Film Finances.
He was the Sr. Vice President of Post Production, Vissual Effects and digital Media overseeing 30 to 60 features per year including Woody Allen's films, Iron Man, Silver Linings Playbook, Ender's Game and many quality independent features.
Since 2014 he has been a post production supervisor and VFX producer.
