Melissa Tan, a native of San Diego, California was raised in Southern Californian Suburbia. The eldest daughter of hardworking immigrant parents, who came to the US with only their determination, work visa and $200, she has finally learned to embrace her inherited Type-A tendencies.

As early as 3 years old, Melissa recited poems to her father into the wee hours. In her youth, she created neighborhood dances and co-directed a class musical. Melissa graduated from the University of California, San Diego in less than four years.

She was true to the Performing Artist spirit by waiting tables to support her Acting Habit. Adventures Abroad temporarily lured her to Japan where she taught Conversational English, which funded traveling to 14 countries in 4 continents.

She still travels whenever possible. Melissa made her LA stage debut in the Sidewalk Studio Theatre's World Premiere of "P.O.P. Principles of Perfection."
