Matthew Gorman is a filmmaker from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His love for films began early on, and increased exponentially upon getting his first job, a co-op position through his high school at Videoflicks (a small locally owned video store).

Upon graduating high school Matthew attended Centennial College in Scarborough Ontario for 1 year in the Business Administration program. He could tell early on that business was not for him, and left to pursue a career in film & TV.

His first job in Film/TV was as a production assistant on the long running TV series 'Comedy Now' where he was responsible for driving/wrangling comedians on the day of their performance.Soon after experiencing life on a real set, Matthew decided to continue his education at the International Academy of Design & Technology in their Digital Television Production Diploma Program (now known as Toronto Film School).

He graduated with Honors in 2001 and was given the 'Best Cinematography Award' for one of his film school projects. After being on various film sets Matthew saw the managerial role that the Assistant Director held on set, and was immediately drawn to that position.

He dove in headlong and began working as a 3rd, and quickly after a 1st, Assistant Director on short films, music videos, commercials and feature length films. In 2009 he took the experiences he had gained by working with many great and award-winning directors and began his directorial career when his friend Lizz Winstead asked him to act as co-Director on her Spec TV Pilot "Wake Up World".

Since then Matthew has continued to work as an Assistant Director, as well as starting One Small Step Films and directing several projects including the short film "First Kiss" and the short documentary film "Smear Campaign" which won the award for 'Best Short Comedy Documentary' at the 2013 Atlanta International Documentary Film Festival.
