Maria Chelidoni was born in Athens, Greece. Her father was a shoe maker and her mother a merchant with a deep love for theatre. When she graduated from high school, she attended one year at the High School of Dramatic Art Arhi Athens, and then she auditioned for the Drama School of Athens, where she was accepted.
She graduated with a BA in Acting and then she attended five years at the University of Athens in the department of Theatre Studies. She also holds an MA in Theatre Pedagogy from the Theatre Academy of Helsinki, Finland.
She began her work on stage in 1995 as a dancer. From 2001 onward she has been acting for stage and camera, mostly in Greece and United Kindom. Since 2007 she's been working also as a drama teacher. She has worked with various schools in Finland and Greece.
