Animator Kevin MacLean started working at Will Vinton Studios (now called Laika Entertainment) at the age of 18. At the studio Kevin worked on the television shows, "The PJ's" (1999) and "Gary & Mike" (2001), and commercials for NFL on Fox, M&M's candy, Three Musketeers, and Arby's.

By the age of 20, he worked on his first feature, Monkeybone (2001), with director Henry Selick. In 2003, Kevin accepted a position at DreamWorks Animation.
