Juan Abello

Juan Abello was born on 1941 in Madrid, Spain, Spain. Juan Abello is a Spanish businessman and onetime pharmacist who has built his fortune on a range of investments since selling his family's pharmaceutical company in 1985. He owns a stake in for-profit education company Laureate Education, which paid former U. S. president Bill Clinton $16 million to act as a consultant from 2010 to 2014. Abello's other investments include Prestige Motor Holdings, the largest shareholder of the luxurious Aston Martin automobiles and Grupo Imagina, a media holding company. He often appears in tabloids alongside well-known politicians and members of Spanish artistic and cultural circles. Abello is also known for his valuable art collection, which includes works by Pablo Picasso, Francisco Goya, El Greco, Edgar Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, Salvador Dali, Francis Bacon, and Van Gogh. He's an enthusiastic hunter who enjoys bullfights and soccer.

1925

Abelló inherited Abello Laboratories, which was founded by his pharmacist Father, Juan Abello Pascual, in 1925. In 1993, it merged with its largest competitor, ALK, to form ALK-Abelló.

1941

Juan Abelló was born in 1941, in Madrid, the son of a pharmacist Father, Juan Abello Pascual. He has a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the Complutense University of Madrid (1963), and a doctorate in phramacy (1978) from Madrid's Colegio del Pilar. He is a member of Spain's Royal Academy of Pharmacy.

1983

Abello owns one of the last large triptychs painted by Francis Bacon, Triptych 1983 (1983), and a small triptych by Bacon, Three Studies for a Portrait of Peter Beard (1975). Abello is the only Spanish art collector to own multiple pieces by Bacon.
