John Wallace Overall, was an Australian World War II veteran and architect. Overall served as an officer in the Australian Imperial Force during World War Two. He was awarded the Military Cross. After serving with the 9th Divisional Engineers, in September 1943 he was given command of Australia's first parachute infantry battalion, the 1st Parachute Battalion.

After the war had ended, Overall worked as an architect. In 1952 was made the Chief Government Architect in the Commonwealth Department of Works. In 1957 he was appointed Commissioner of the National Capital Development Commission' making significant contributions to the development of Canberra.

In 1972, he returned to private practice in 1972.In 1982, he was awarded the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal.His wife Margaret, died in 1988, with Overall passing away in 2001, being survived by four sons and many grandchildren.
