Additionally, McNichol is co-partner in the entertainment production company Playground Television, Inc.McNichol is internationally known; was a top T.V. & Film star; a teen-age heart-throb; and one of the most popular actors in the entertainment industry from the late 1970s through the early 90s. He continues to have an international fan base, with many young people discovering his old work and becoming new fans. Now, McNichol was just named celebrity spokesman for the nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation "Pet Power Kids."Formerly, McNichol appeared on countless magazine covers and was consistently the star of top T.V. and film productions. McNichol had several network T.V. shows and feature films created just for him, and even co-produced a CBS network variety special with über-producer Jerry Weintraub. Also, McNichol worked with numerous Academy Award winners and nominees, including Jill Clayburgh, Shirley Knight, Richard Jaeckel, and Susan Tyrrell.In conjunction with the "Pet Power Kids," McNichol and Playground Television are developing a T.V. series documenting animal rescue and animal issues, entitled, "Animal Rescue The Rockies" A.K.A. Previously, he had moved away from Hollywood to raise his kids, but now that the children are older, he is making his return to television and film, and his sister Kristy McNichol is by his side to help him out whenever necessary.McNichol's two-decade absence, and much public anticipation, explains why fans are still selling his autographed photos for $300.During his absence from California, McNichol has spent time in France with his wife and children, while continuing to give a rare concert performance. This year, McNichol is releasing a new C.D. entitled "Eco Warrior" under Aurora Entertainment's Ecology Music Group label "EMG," and donating part of the proceeds to charity. 1961

McNichol was born July 2, 1961 in Los Angeles, California. He began his career at the age of 7, acting in a Band-Aid commercial. He appeared in roughly 80 commercials between 1967–1973, including spots for Kool-Aid and Crest. He landed minor roles in shows such as S.W.A.T. and Little House on the Prairie.

1973

He made his first movie, Sunshine, in 1973 at the age of 12. His first regular starring role was as younger brother Jack on The Fitzpatricks. Michele Tobin played his sister, Mo, on the show, and they later worked together on California Fever. McNichol sang the show's theme song, and in 1978 recorded an album with his sister, Kristy, produced by Phil & Mitch Margo.

1980

When California Fever ended, he won the role as host of a weekly talk show, Hollywood Teen. He appeared in several successful made-for-TV movies, including Blinded by the Light which co-starred his sister Kristy. He made several low budget feature films before accepting the role of Josh Clayton on General Hospital). He performed in a band throughout the 1980s under the name "Jimmy James". His last notable acting role was that of Jill Ireland (played by Jill Clayburgh)'s son, Valentine McCallum, in the 1991 movie, Reason for Living.

1997

He and his wife Renee (whom he married in 1997) have two children and live in Durango, Colorado.

1998

McNichol is an avid Environmentalist, and in 1998 was focusing on ecological education with a web site called ECOTV.

2010
