Perhaps one of the most "under the radar" auteurs in his class, Jerry LaMothe is a writer, director and producer born and raised in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. In 2000, the multi-hyphenate talent released his directorial debut; the award-winning feature film Amour Infinity, which he produced, wrote, directed, and starred in.

The film is regarded by many as an underground cult classic. He has since gone on to build a distinctive body of work.In 2007, the prolific filmmaker wrote, directed, and produced the independent feature, Blackout.

The festival fave boasted an impressive cast which included: Jeffrey Wright, Zoe Saldana, Saul Rubinek, Jamie Hector, Susan Kelechi Watson, Melvin Van Peebles and Michael B. Jordan. Blackout premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.

Other top-tier festival selections would follow, including the Chicago International film festival, Zurich International Film Festival and Urbanworld, where LaMothe received the "Director's spotlight" award.

The filmmaker would go on to direct a plethora of diverse talent including; Jennifer Lewis (Blackish), Terrence Howard, Lucille Soong (Fresh Off The Boat), Susan Kelichi Watson (This Is Us), Tamala Jones (Castle), Rob Morgan (Mudbound) and the late Whitney Houston, to name a few.

In 2012, his critically-acclaimed short film The Tombs was released, enjoying a successful film festival circuit run, the Tombs was an official selection at The Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and several others.

The Tombs was also nominated for a 2012 Black Reel Award for Best Independent short film and the 2012 HBO award for Best Short Film at the MVAAFF. The same year, the film was also awarded 'Audience Award Best Short Film' at The Atlanta Film Festival.

The story follows a Brooklyn man's three-day journey through New York's central booking jail system.In March 2012, it was announced that LaMothe is an ABC/DGA directing program finalist for the 2012-2014 season and that year's recipient of The Newark Museum's Paul Robeson Award for Best Short film (The Tombs), presented by the Newark Black Film Festival and Bank of America.

In 2013, the filmmaker was awarded the prestigious NJ State Artist Fellowship Grant.In 2016, the award-winning filmmaker was tapped direct the pilot and episode two, to Bounce TV's first scripted series, Saints And Sinners.

The flagship hit series earned 1.3 Million viewers during its premiere (ep 102 earned 1.5 Million ), crowning the show as the most watched in Bounce TV's history.In May 2018, Jerry LaMothe received an Artists Grant from the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation for his screenplay The Promise Keeper, his highly anticipated passion project.
