He has worked with legendary directors such as Roman Polanski (Oliver Twist), Robert Altman (Gosford Park) and more recently, The Wachowski Siblings (Jupiter Ascending). His professional career began touring a revue show to prisons and borstals and throughout his 20's Jeremy worked mainly in theatre including The National Theatre (What The Butler Saw) and the West End (Abigail's Party). Jeremy moved more into television in his 30's with roles in Vanity Fair and cult show The Smoking Room (BBC) then in his 40's into feature films such as Gosford Park, Amazing Grace, Oliver Twist, Fred Claus and more recently Jupiter Ascending, in which he plays Mila Kunis's uncle. Jeremy is at present a regular in 3 ongoing television series, Downton Abbey, in which he plays Mr. Spratt (Maggie Smiths butler), Foyle's War, in which he plays Glenvil Harris, the Labour Party Chairman, and The Crimson Field in which he plays the corrupt QMS Reggie Soper. Jeremy also appears in Downhill, a British indie, released 2014. Jeremy is married to the actress Mary Roscoe. (q v )They have 2 children and live in London.

2000

In the 2000s, Swift appeared in Gosford Park playing the footman Arthur, and Roman Polanski's Oliver Twist as Mr Bumble. For BBC3 he played Barry in the cult hit The Smoking Room and had a theatrical hit with Abigail's Party, the last production at the old Hampstead Theatre and their longest running west end transfer.

2009

In 2009 he played the lead in the true story of Sean Greenhalgh in The Antiques' Rogue Show for BBC2 with Liz Smith and Peter Vaughn, The Deacon in a film adaptation of Anton Chekhov's short story The Duel and featured in Canoe Man, a 2010 TV drama based on the John Darwin disappearance case.

2014

He starred in the independent British feature film Downhill, which is a comedy about four men attempting Alfred Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk which was released in 2014 and co-stars Ned Dennehy, Karl Theobald and Richard Lumsden. The film was directed by James Rouse and the screenplay was written by Torben Betts.

2018

He is currently filming the sequel to Mary Poppins: Mary Poppins Returns, which will be released in 2018.
