After his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps (including a tour of duty in Vietnam) then returning to civilian life as a musician in the bay area of Northern California, Jean decided it was time for a change and segued seamlessly into acting.
Jean made his acting debut in the stage play Wait Until Dark with Actors Repertory Theater in San Jose, California in 1974. Jean also filmed his first television commercial in that same year. He has appeared in over 50 film, television, industrial, commercial, music video, and theatre productions.
