James Edward Seyer was born in Houston, Texas to parents John Frederick Seyer, a business owner and investment adviser, and Melissa Anne Seyer, a fashion model and beauty pageant contestant. At an early age, James gained great enthusiasm for film.
In elementary school James' father gifted him a small camcorder for Christmas, paving the way for the road ahead. This was the beginning of a beautiful relationship with film-making, as he used this camcorder to shoot multiple short films with his friends.
Later, in middle school, his drama teacher was so impressed with his story-telling and acting abilities that she asked him to direct the school play. In high school, word spread that James was quite the film-maker, which led to the seniors asking him to shoot their senior thesis films.
In college, James pursued a film-related education, from which he learned a variety of crafts and "tricks of the trade." After college, James entered his films into multiple film festivals, gathering a vast collection of film-making awards, along with the prestige that accompanies them.
