Some J.A. Worthington images

Renegade filmmaker J.A. Worthington is a writer/producer/director/editor and is known for Megalomania (2012), The LeVer (2014), and Sketchboogey (2018).He was born in Oakville, Ontario at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

As a teen, he was obsessed with the films of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, George Lucas, and David Cronenberg. In particular he loved Hook (1991), Halloween (1978) and the original Star Wars Trilogy (Special Edition - 1997).

These movies literally got him 'hooked' on visual storytelling and filmmaking in general. While still a kid, curiosity got the best of him and he began experimenting with home videos as early as Grade 7 and 8 using his parent's JVC video8 camcorder.

In fact, his first introduction to editing was re-creating the opening title sequence to Halloween (1978) slide by slide, using an application similar to Microsoft Powerpoint. After seeing A Clockwork Orange (1971) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) for the first time back-to-back in Grade 10 he was cinematically inspired and moved.

From then on his favourite director was Stanley Kubrick and the fascination phase lasted a very long time. Raised on the edge of suburbia in the small town of Waterdown he attended Waterdown District High School.

During his rebellious years at WDHS, he single handedly shot and edited about 9 short film projects on miniDV, including a documentary bio about Andy Warhol. One of his more realized films titled Project Genesis (2004) went on to be screened at a Toronto-based Film Festival in 2004, winning a Certificate of Merit for Best Storytelling and Best Editing.

After graduating high school, J.A. Worthington attended the Toronto Film School (A division of the International Academy of Design & Technology), taking studies in Digital Film & TV Production. He completed the course in 2006.

In those days the school was located in the same building as the Canadian Broadcasting Centre (CBC). Currently he resides in the Greater Toronto Area (City of Burlington). He spends most of his time creating original content and finalizing post-production stages on numerous indie projects.
