Before Fame

He auditioned to join Paul McCartney and John Lennon in The Quarrymen in March 1958, performing the song "Guitar Boogie Shuffle" by Arthur Smith for his audition. McCartney initially deemed him too young, at just 15 years old, but Harrison eventually won him over. A few months after Harrison officially joined the band, The Quarrymen renamed themselves The Beatles.

Trivia

He and sitar player Ravi Shankar organized The Concert for Bangladesh on August 1, 1971 to raise awareness for refugees from East Pakistan following the Bangladesh Liberation War.

Family Life

He got married to Pattie Boyd on January 21, 1966. After their divorce on June 9, 1977, he married Olivia Harrison on September 1, 1978. He had a son named Dhani.
