His films "The Long Day", "Variations on the Theme" and "The Days of a Man" was selected as study aid for following film higher educational institutions - VGIK (Russia), Graduate Film Programme at New York University and Harvard Film Archive at Harvard University (USA).

"The Days of a Man" (based on the works by A. Bytov, screenplay by S. Soloviov, Riga Film Studio, 1989) was selected for the screening at "Panorama" section of the International Berlin Film festival in 1992.

It was the first time since the restoration of independence, when a film from Latvia is being screened in the official programme of an A category film festival. The film enjoyed critical acclaim. In 1992, the film was screened at the International Seattle Film Festival.

The critics wrote: "...A visual symphony, the camera floating dreamily through darkened streets, empty houses and over tranquil waters, shot throughout with moody blues and iridescent yellows, THE DAYS OF A MAN is suffused with the spirit of Andrei Tarkovsky, yet this inspired first feature by Yevgeny Pashkevich is the work of a strong new voice, as unique and disquieting as that of the late great Russian master.
