Invited to the production design branch of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2019, Daniel Birt is an internationally recognized set decorator working across film and television.Nominated for the British Film Designers Guild award for Best Production Design for his work on the action film 6 DAYS, Daniel's other projects include the Universal Pictures action blockbuster THE MUMMY, GHOST IN THE SHELL - assistant set decorator and comedy ACTION POINT.

Daniel has worked on large scale projects internationally and has extensive experience across a range of genre and period. He decorated the acclaimed CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON: SWORD OF DESTINY, the sci-fi epic CHAPPIE, directed by Neill Blomkamp and EMPEROR, the 2012 film about the days immediately following the Japanese surrender at the end of World War II.

He undertook the set decoration on the Warner Bros classic YOGI BEAR.Daniel is a professional member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, BAFTA Los Angeles, Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA), the British Film Designers Guild (BFDG) and the Australian Production Design Guild (APDG).

He is a graduate of The University of Waikato (film major) and completed industry training through the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).Daniel has recently completed work decorating the adaptation of Eleanor Catton's epic story of love, murder and revenge and Man Booker prize-winning novel THE LUMINARIES for Working Title UK/BBC2 and the NETFLIX action thriller, KATE.
