When he was 13 years old, he fell in love with the film The Goonies and was inspired to become an actor. He began training at the Centre Stage LA theatre company and starred in various commercials. His first role was in 1987 on the television show Sidekick. He then went on to have other television parts and earned an Emmy nomination for his starring role in the made-for-television film I Know My First Name is Steven in 1989. That is when he was cast for Parker Lewis Can't Lose, which he starred in from 1990 to 1993.
