Clement Fayat was born on 1931 in Saint-Émilion, France, France. The son of a bricklayer, Clement Fayat left school at age 15 to apprentice in construction, founding his own civil engineering firm at age 25. Now Fayat Group is the largest privately-held construction and civil engineering firm based in France, with 19,000 employees and a foothold in 120 countries. After 56 years at the helm, Fayat handed off management of his international construction group to his sons, Jean-Claude and Laurent, in 2013. He's still honorary president of Bordeaux-based Fayat Group and has a hand in daily operations. Fayat owns 100% of the company with his sons. Jean-Claude is president, while Laurent is managing director. A wine lover, Fayat also owns three vineyards in Bordeaux.
