Before Fame

She had been working as a Journalist for The Daily Telegraph for less than a week when she was sent to Poland. She traveled across the German-Polish border to find a build-up of Nazi German troops and artillery.

Trivia

She authored a number of books called Poland's Three Weeks' War, There's a German Right Behind Me, The Arabs and the West, Mao and the Men Against Him, and Front Line (memoirs). She was an honorary goodwill ambassador of the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Hong Kong.

Family Life

She married Vandeleur Robinson in 1936, divorcing him in 1951. She had a stepdaughter from her second marriage to Geoffrey Hoare. She was a survivor of the King David Hotel bombing in Jerusalem that killed 91 people.
