Cameron Penn is a writer, director based in Los Angeles. He began his first foray into the entertainment world as a magician. At age eleven, he began performing for local retirement homes, but soon went on to win first place in 2009 and 2010 in the Novelty Category at the San Marcos Talent Show in California.
Penn's first time directing came in high school, when he directed a Macbeth scene that was adapted from Breaking Bad for the Drama Teachers' Association of Southern California Festival, a competition with past alumni that include Sally Field, Richard Dreyfuss, Jason Bateman, and Cuba Gooding Jr.
The Macbeth scene received third place. His senior year he directed a scene from Titus Andronicus which won first place and propelled Carlsbad High School to win first place overall for the first time in the school's fifty-year history.
In 2014 Penn completed his first short film A Forgotten Soul. The film got him accepted into New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where he graduated magna cum laude. In 2015, Penn wrote and directed A Stacked Deck, a House of Cards parody which screened at the AMC Theatre in Times Square for the All American High School Film Festival.
A Stacked Deck also went on to win the Audience Choice Award for Best High School Film at the Oceanside International Film Festival. In 2016, Penn completed the short film, Seventy-Two, which received an Award of Excellence from the Catalina Film Festival, won the Audience Award for Best College Film at the Oceanside International Film Festival, and won the jury prize for Best Short Screenplay at the Northern Virginia International Film Festival where it was nominated for five other awards including Best Short Film.
Penn sold Seventy-Two to Shorts TV. His most recent film, Academy of Eden, is in post-production and stars Nickelodeon actor Stephen Kramer Glickman in his first dramatic role.Recently, Penn wrote and directed a pilot entitled 'The Roommates,' which stars Golden Globe Winner Barry Bostwick, Oscar Nominee Bruce Davison, and Martin Kove from The Karate Kid trilogy.
While directing acclaimed projects, Penn has also worked for various film companies based in Los Angeles including Legendary Pictures and Allison Shearmur Productions, the latter of which was involved in producing the Star Wars franchise.
In 2017, he graduated from Academy Gold, a mentorship program hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
