Ali Reza Askari was born on August 8th 1987 in New York, then moved to St. Louis, Missouri, then to Paradise Valley, Arizona. Ali lived in Phoenix until he was 14 then he moved to Miami, Florida with his mom and sister.
He was in Miami from his 8th grade year till his Junior year in high school then he moved back to Phoenix with his dad for his senior year at Arcadia high school. Ali came up with the idea for Addicts a few days before his 18th birthday and from then till the end of his senior year he wrote as much as he could in his spare time.
Ali graduated Arcadia in the spring of 2006 and started film school in the Fall at NYFA in Los Angeles. By the time Ali started school in September he already had 35 pages written and so was eager to learn and then one day shoot his feature film.
Addicts was shot in 2008 for 13 days. Michael Kenneth Williams from HBO's "The Wire" and "Boardwalk Empire" signed on to the film. "Addicts" premiered in 2009 at the Hollywood Black Film Festival.In 2010 Ali Askari applied to The Los Angeles Film School where he graduated with an Associates Degree in arts & sciences, his Thesis film "Dark All Around" was a 30 minute short film that premiered at the 64th Cannes Film Festival in the short film corner.
As of 2012 Ali is currently working on writing/directing his second feature film.
