Poet Alfred DesRochers (also know as Desrochers) was born in Saint-Élie d'Orford, Quebec, Canada in 1901. He is the author of "L'Offrande aux vierges folles" (1928), "À l'ombre del'Orford" (1929), "Paragraphes" (1931,) among other works.

Honors include David Price Award in 1932, the Lemay Award in 1974. In 1978 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. "Le Retour de Titus" was published in 1963, "Elégies pour l' epouse en-allee" in 1967.

"Oeuvres poetiques" appeared in 1977. He is the father of actress-writer Clémence DesRochers. He died in Montreal on October 12, 1978.
